I was watching Dragon’s Den re-runs and came across an absolute belter of a response from then-Dragon and Canadian tech entrepreneur – Michele Romanow. It was a stunning retort from defensive Founder – Jody Harbour, who had been in product development for 6 years.

‘It makes no sense in capitalism for entrepreneurs to win’, Michele began.

She explained that big corporations have more money and more people, so it doesn’t make sense for entrepreneurs to win…

… unless they’re fast.

The concept isn’t new. In 2001, Jason Jennings and Laurence Haughton published the seminal business book ‘It’s Not the Big That Eat the Small… It’s the Fast That Eat the Slow’.

The book explains what the title suggests; that fast thinking, fast decisions, getting to market faster, and sustaining speed are often the most important factors to a business’ success.

I appreciate I have a horse in this race – pun intended, but it would take some solid debate to convince me that Mixed Reality isn’t the fastest space to be in right now.

The sharing economy? Capitalism has caught up. Uber(Eats) ain’t cheap.

Crypto? Banks are right there. 1 Bitcoin? That’s a cheeky AUD $170k.

MR/VR Tech? Everyone is a first mover. It’s the wild west out there – the new frontier.

So, what’s your first move?

Whether it’s buying a headset or starting a publication *cough* - I suggest to just move… fast.
