I know I’m banging on about it… but’s it’s my world at the moment. I wrote about it in edition 12 and I’m gonna do so again - much to the chagrin of Reverso who has to put up with my awful daily gym selfies.
If it makes you feel any better, I haven’t lost any weight. And after working out some 20 of the past 25 days, the advice might be to hire a trainer.
So I looked into what VR can do. An AI-powered personal trainer in your headset exists.
Apps are getting smart with real-time form checks via cameras, dynamic difficulty tweaks based on your HR, and predictive plans that factor in recovery or even sleep data. Supernatural and FitXR lead here, integrating with Apple Health/Strava for holistic tracking.
As of late 2025, VR fitness is exploding, with the global market hitting around $14 billion and Australia’s household VR fitness scene valued at AUD $120 million.
Are any gyms exploring it? You betcha.
Chains like EoS Fitness use VR/gamified gear (leaderboards on smart machines), and exergames from Exergame Fitness bring interactive floors/walls. In Sydney, virtual fitness is huge - 70% love on-demand flexibility - and spots are piloting VR for Hyrox-style events or immersive cardio.
So stay tuned and perhaps check-in on poor Reverso for me. He’s gonna be copping a lot more than static selfie.
P.s. you checked out the new Samsung Galaxy XR Headset? That might be the tester for the gym.
