The Mixed Reality scene in APAC seems to be picking up speed.
New licensing deals, new hardware, new contracts and widespread adoption seems to be flooding the news at the moment.
With Meta's $19.1B losses reported early last week.
Where do we go from here?
From all reports, APAC leads the world in VR growth. Strong 5G networks, rising incomes in places like China, Japan, and South Korea, plus new uses in gaming, education, and business training are driving it forward.
APAC already holds a large share of global VR sales, with forecasts showing the market expanding quickly through the next decade.
From all "reports" we're moving in the right direction. Then we get news about Meta's Reality Labs unit - losing a reported $19 billion in 2025 alone. That pushes total losses since 2020 close to $90 billion.
This raises real questions: Will this one elephant cause the market to shift downward? Or, will we see a new player enter the market and rise above.
Will we have fast-moving startups and government support step in with cheaper, locally made solutions? Might the focus shift to mixed AR-VR tools instead of full metaverse dreams? Or, will the industry adjust to high costs and find better paths to profit?
All those questions are worth asking... question is, what will be the answer?
The race is just beginning.
