December 29, 2025: The biggest names in tech shared their predictions for 2026.
I was hoping the two letters of focus were VR, AR, XR... although, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which two letters were the focus.
AI.
Innovators and tech executives all gave their two cents on whether Australia will have a break out year for AI adoption, or fall behind.
What does this mean for Virtual Reality in 2026?
So, adhering the theme of above - I decided to turn to Grok to share some predictions:
- "APAC's XR market could exceed $40-50 billion, aligning with projections of 30-35% CAGR, driven by urbanisation, 5G maturity, and affordable hardware. China and Japan will dominate manufacturing and R&D".
- "Expect a "renaissance" with releases like Valve's wireless headset, emphasising open-source features, finger tracking, and pancake lenses, potentially capturing 20-30% market share".
- "Sector specific booms in Healthcare, Education, Manufacturing and Enterprise Training".
Not bad, right?
A lot like AI, this looks to be a crucial year for Mixed Reality.
Are we looking at a continued economic transformation? Or the burst of an XR "bubble"?
Stay tuned.
Yours virtually,
Reverso
